Edge Of Eternity is heading to Kickstarter this September, where it’s developers aim to seek money to bring this game to retail, although I’m personally a little concerned that they’re over shooting their mark on this one and that it could loose its entertainment value in the way of adding too many features and gimmicks.
The game promises to be a classic style turn based RPG that is reminiscent of the Final Fantasy VII era, likely no coincidence that the developers are named Midgar Studio, with the city of Midgar being centre stage in Final Fantasy VII its self.
The classic combat is one thing, but add to that a gaming universe setting that is space based, medieval AND steampunk, while featuring “a mature story and fancy graphics.”
Edge Of Eternity will be available on:
Now call me crazy, but did they just forget to mention the Commodore 64 or what? I don’t think I’ve ever seen any game make such a tall order as this and it concerns me that the game developers may not be very focused with this title, even if it does sound like it has the basis for something awesome. The developers say that the save games can be synced and that you can continue you game on any platform, no word on if you’ll have to buy multiple copies just yet, but it seems likely.
“VR is something we really like then we added support for Oculus Rift!” said the development team, although this one sounds completely ridiculous given the multi-format save game support and play style.
“Edge Of Eternity will be one of the first AAA mobile games : redefining the technical limits of mobile platforms with stunning graphics and featuring an amazing story with more than 20 hours of gameplay for the main quest.” again, another tall order and wild claim, lets hope the developers can get their heads out of the clouds and make a modern RPG title worthy of a studio that calls it’s self after one of the most famous cities in RPG gaming history.
“The peaceful world of Heryon is threatened by an alien civilization which have invaded the world, they bring with them a disease who turn people and animals to metal monsters. The hero, Daryon, hunted by his own people must discover his origin and save the universe from collapsing.”
