We reported on the new EIZO 1:1 ratio monitor yesterday, but that isn’t the only new monitor to come out of the house of EIZO. They have further announced the release of the ColorEdge CG318-4K 31-inch monitor with a native and true 4K Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixel.

The monitor is designed for media and entertainment fields like cinema and broadcasting, but it’s also ideal for professionals in photography and printing that require the large amount of pixels for their work. The sleek cabinet also comes with carrying handle and cable holder on the back.

The ColorEdge CG318-4K uses an LED-backlit IPS LCD panel with a wide color gamut of 98% of the DCI-P3 and 99% of the Adobe RGB color space. Viewing angles are 178°, contrast is 1500:1 and the maximum brightness is 350 cd/m2. The stand has a 149mm height adjustment, can tilt 40° and swivel 344°

It further has a built-in sensor for self-calibration as well as software to optimize the calibrations. ColorNavigator 6 is bundled with the monitor and allows you to manually adjust the settings while ColorNavigator NX is a free download to distribute the same settings across your entire organization and create a uniform colour environment.

The two DisplayPort 1.2 can show 4K content at 60Hz while the two HDMI connectors are limited to 30Hz. It also has a 3-port built-in USB 3.0 hub for easy connection of peripheral devices. The response time is 9ms and it of course also allows for VESA 100×100 mounting.

The ColorEdge CG318-4K will begin shipping in April 2015, but no word on pricing yet.
