Today EK has revealed a more niche and unique product in the form of a monoblock for the PlayStation 5 console. This monoblock provides an enhanced cooling solution for the PS5 for those who desire something a bit different.
This new monoblock has been designed to cover the entire PS5 PCB and cools all of the critical components on both the front and back providing a more effective and quiet cooling solution at the cost of complexity and literal cost. The block offers a stylish and sleek design with mesmerizing RGB LEDs and is crafted using state-of-the-art CNC machining techniques. It is constructed from nickel-plated electrolytic copper with a see-through acrylic window and then uses stainless steel and aluminium for the other assembly and cosmetic pieces. For connecting to a loop it features two G1/4 ports
Of course, a monoblock also requires all the other components to make a full loop which includes a pump, radiator, fittings, tubes and a standard ATX power supply. The power supply is required for the water-cooling equipment and connects to the PS5 through a PCB converter on the block that converts the 2-pin DC power connector on the PS5 to dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors on the PSU. You also need a case to house all of this equipment to which the monoblock can be mounted to standard ATX standoffs.
This monoblock costs €449.90 which is already just under the cost of the PS5 itself, then adding on all of this other equipment you’re going to be set back a lot just for a unique water-cooled PS5 that sits in a PC case. Who is actually going to buy this?
This monoblock is compatible with the following revisions of the PlayStation 5. Older revisions are not compatible due to physical differences.
The EK-QuantumX CoolingStation Monoblock for PS5 is available for pre-order through the EK Webshop and partner reseller network. This product is expected to ship out in late October 2023 for a price of €449.90.
