EK Unveils New Cooling Solutions for Ryzen 7000 CPUs

EK, a prominent player in the cooling technology sector, has expanded its offerings with a new direct-die water block designed for AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs. This announcement comes shortly after the introduction of their Intel CPU coolers, demonstrating EK’s commitment to advancing CPU cooling technology.

Compatibility and Design

The new EK Direct-Die series, although focused on the Ryzen 7000 CPUs, does not support all AM5 processors. Notably, the Ryzen 8000G series, which utilizes a different die layout, cannot use these coolers. EK’s latest product is engineered to optimize cooling for the unique three-chiplet design of the supported CPUs, which includes two CCDs and an IO die.

Direct-die cooling, which removes the CPU’s integrated heat spreader for closer contact with the cooling block, is particularly effective for high-performance CPUs with TDPs up to 170W. This method can significantly enhance thermal management, leading to better overall performance and stability.

Safety and Stability Features

EK’s design incorporates a die guard to replace the standard socket installation mechanism, ensuring the PCB remains straight and safe from electrical shorts. This careful design approach helps prevent bending and maintains secure connections with socket pins.

For enthusiasts looking to maximize their system’s cooling efficiency, EK offers the EK-Quantum Velocity² Direct Die D-RGB. This cooler features a standout design with sandblasted aluminum anodized in black and an acrylic cover with RGB lighting, adding aesthetic appeal to its functional advantages.

Additionally, EK provides a Signature Edition which includes a Thermal Grizzly 7000 delidding tool and a protective coating. While this premium option comes at a higher price, it underscores EK’s dedication to providing comprehensive cooling solutions for high-end users.
