EK’s New Nucleus AIO Is Designed For Direct Die Cooling

EK has announced a new first-of-its-kind addition to its product line in the form of the EK-Nucleus AIO CR360 Direct Die 1700 which as the name suggests, provides direct die cooling for your LGA 1700 CPU within an AIO.

EK-Nucleus AIO Direct Die 1700

This new AIO is built using EK’s existing Nucleus CR360 which is among some of the best performing AIO’s we’ve tested. This new design implements direct-die support exclusively for delidded Intel LGA 1700 CPUs which has previously been exclusive, due to its unique use case, for users with complete custom loops. The AIO was designed in collaboration with popular German overclocker Der8auer using his knowledge on extreme overclocking & delidding, to help design the die-guard and backplates of the AIO. The cold plate of the AIO is nickel plated which ensures that it will be safe to use with liquid metal which contrasts to most AIO’s on the market which use bare copper plates. Additionally EK have included a new pump cover with this AIO that features a brushed aluminium skull.

Delidding is where an entire layer of thermal transfer is removed from the CPU die to the IHS which results in a significant reduction of overall temperatures and less thermal difference between CPU cores. It’s a process exclusive to those looking for extreme performance so the average user is not going to consider it especially due to the risk of damage if not done correctly. But there is no denying that a single AIO rather than a full custom loop will open this method up to more people and make the process a bit more simple.

Price and Availability

The EK-Nucleus AIO Direct Die 1700 is designed in Slovenia, Europe, and is available for pre-order at an MSRP of €202.90 through the EK Webshop. This product is expected to start shipping in mid-March 2024.
