Elden Ring 2 Not in Development, But FromSoftware Is Working on Multiple Projects

Elden Ring has been a massive success, with over 25 million copies sold. Its expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, released this past June, has also seen impressive sales, with 5 million units sold within a week of launch—another major triumph for FromSoftware. Despite these achievements, a potential Elden Ring 2 is not currently in the studio’s plans, or at least that’s what director Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed in a recent interview.
Elden Ring 2 Not in Development
“We are not currently considering developing Elden Ring 2,” Miyazaki told Japanese publication Game Watch. “However, that doesn’t mean we don’t have plans to expand the Elden Ring IP in the future. As for ‘What are you working on?’—at the moment, I can only say that FromSoftware has multiple projects in the works, as usual. These include a variety of genres and types of games, so I hope you’ll continue to follow us to see what they are.”
Miyazaki has previously expressed a desire to continue working on the Armored Core series, and the moderate commercial success of the sixth installment makes that prospect increasingly likely. He has also mentioned his interest in creating a large-scale fantasy RPG, which could be one of the projects currently in development. As for Elden Ring, it’s possible that FromSoftware plans to expand the IP through adaptations, potentially for cinema or television.
