Elden Ring is an exceptionally great title and we daresay that it’s probably already cemented itself in grabbing a bunch of ‘Game of the Year’ awards from many publications. One key factor in this is undoubtedly the beautiful world FromSoftware has put together. – Following a video released by Reddit user ‘u/-shin‘, however, we definitely have something on the other end of the scale here, but also perhaps something that’s even more impressive. Well, on a technical level at least.
What is it? Well, they’re apparently demaking Elden Ring for the Game Boy. A version that will reportedly be capable of running on the original hardware!
Although not yet released, the video showcases some gameplay footage, and overall, it doesn’t just look to be a faithful recreation of Elden Ring, but a bloody good one too considering that this is running on the original hardware specifications for the Game Boy! – Although details surrounding it are a bit vague at the time of writing, it would appear, at least to me, that this may be something of a reskin/rework of Links Awakening (a title that was originally released on the Game Boy (than latterly rereleased for the Switch).
As such, a full-blown release, and who knows, maybe an actual cartridge version, does seem to be set to arrive in the very near future!
Overall, the work that has gone into this looks very impressive and really captures not just the spirit of Elden Ring, but also of those simpler days of top-down Game Boy adventure titles. – If you do, therefore, want to keep up with the latest news and work surrounding this demake, you can visit the creator’s official Twitch channel via the link here!
