Bethesda has just announced on a Twitch live stream that The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind is scheduled to be launched soon on June 6. The game is to be a “sweeping adventure” through the magical land of Vvardenfell and in usual Elder Scrolls fashion, the fate of the world once again rests on your shoulders. Vvardenfell will be the largest zone added to The Elder Scrolls Online world since its release in 2014 and will feature the same “geographic footprint” as well as points of interest as Morrowind. This includes the city of Vivec which will be under construction since it is set seven centuries before the events in Morrowind took place.
The land of Vvardenfell has been teased all the way back in 2012 in an answer to an Elder Scrolls Online support question, with Bethesda stating that “In The Elder Scrolls Online, players will get to explore Morrowind’s mainland… ….[but] that’s not to say adventurers in The Elder Scrolls Online won’t ever be able to visit Vvardenfell.” Dataminers figured out new quest info, character names and more from update version 2.5.0 (update 11) but now the details are finally official. The expansion will add a new class called the Warden, who wields nature-based magic and fights with a war bear by his side. There will also be a new PvP mode called Battlegrounds which features 4v4v4 fights in arena-like environments. New players can begin their adventures in Vvardenfell without having to go through other The Elder Scrolls Online content first.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind will be available for $60 and will include The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited base game (or it can also be had as a $40 upgrade for existing players). A $100 collector’s edition is also available which includes a physical copy of the game and will be chockful of TESO goodies such as a dwarven colossus statue, a map of Morrowind, an illustrated journal of Naryu (a Morag Tong assassin), a grey War Bear, and an armored horse. Pre-ordering any version will get users a Discovery Pack containing in-game bonuses such as an exclusive Warden costume and a Vvardenfall treasure map.
