Elgato Game Capture HD60 X Review

Gaming is big business, but these days, we’re not just playing games on our own, but many of us are showing them to the wider world. From content creators wanting to make videos for YouTube by recording their games then editing the footage, right through to those who live stream in real-time on platforms like Twitch. There are many ways of getting your games recorded or streamed, with many features even built into modern systems too. However, they come with system overhead performance issues, compression systems and much more that can lower the quality of the experience as a gamer and in terms of what is captured. Thankfully, there’s another way.

Elgato HD60 X

Capture cards are nothing new, they’ve been around for a very long time now. However, Elgato is pretty much the king of this sort of stuff these days, so when I saw they had a new capture device, I just had to check it out. The Elgato HD60X is a compact external capture device, which simply hooks up to your PC via USB 3, However, this new one comes with features that make it well suited to newer consoles too, such as high frame rate passthrough, ultra-low latency, and HDR10 capture. Basically, you can game in 4K or 120Hz just fine, but this will capture the full-HD 60 content, which is awesome.
