Elgato “Prompter” Teleprompter Review

It’s no secret that we do a lot of content creation here at eTeknix, and it can be a more complex job than a lot of people may even realise. With the coordination and setup of lighting, multiple cameras, lens, a plethora of mounts, cables, storage devices and backup systems, and so much more that needs to go into our studio setup. Anything that can make life easier and more streamlined is a good investment, with that whole “time is money” mindset often ringing very true for us. If you’re working in TV, movie, or online content creation for YouTube, Twitch, and so many others, much of the same problems we face will be pretty relatable to you in some capacity or another.

With that little ramble out of the way, we use a lot of Elgato products in our setup, from lighting to the StreamDeck controllers, and they’ve continued to be reliable and fun products to use day after day. So when we finally saw their extremely popular teleprompter was back in stock, we just had to get one in for review, and if it’s any good, put it to work in our studio to make our lives easier!

The Elgato Prompter can be attached to a camera or webcam, and allows you to read your scripts off of its screen, while still making natural eye contact with the camera. No more looking down at your notes, or having to edit out the pauses in your video. Just hook it up to your computer, and it can mirrors scripts, stream chat, or any window you drag and drop onto its built-in screen.

Features

  • Built-in display, Drag-and-drop: No extra tablets or smartphone screens required; Move any window or app onto Prompter’s display, just like a monitor
  • Multipurpose: Read Twitch chat or scripts while looking at your camera
  • Meet face to face: Maintain professional eye contact on Zoom or Teams calls
  • Super compatible, Ultra customizable: Supports more cameras than any other, even the widest lenses, includes Camera Hub app to adjust text and chat appearance; DisplayLink (installs automatically at setup)
  • Easy setup, Desktop controlled: No complicated installs, just attach your camera and plug in, use your PC or Mac computer — not a third-party mobile app; Works with Stream Deck
