Pricing
Elgato’s Thunderbolt 3 Mini Dock can be yours for $145.95 or £139.95. That doesn’t make it the cheapest, but also not the most expensive one. What it does, is offer you a solid product at a fair price.
Conclusion
Elgato’s Thunderbolt 3 Mini Dock is perfect for the person on-the-go, but with a need for extra or easy connection options for their portable computer. It is small, light, and easy to take with you when you’re out. The Thunderbolt 3 Mini Dock doesn’t need any external power and it features a built-in TB3 cable.
It is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand and has a solid feel. There is nothing to point a finger at when it comes to the build quality or design. It just looks and feels great.
The unit is pretty much plug-and-play which is another bonus. Mac users might need to install the small piece of software and you might need to authorize the device in your TB3 utility, but that’s it. And that’s no different for any other TB3 device. The system needs to know that it’s a trusted device which you’ve connected.
Once you connected, your system has expanded connection abilities. This is either on top of what you already have or to make up for what’s missing. You can connect two
4K 60Hz monitor simultaneously as well as wired networking and an extra USB device. With Thunderbolt 3, there’s plenty of bandwidth for it all.

- Dual 4K 60Hz display output
- Gigabit Ethernet
- Bus-powered

“Elgato created a great docking station for those who do not want to compromise while they’re on the go. It comes with fewer ports than full-sized docking stations, but it has those that matter.”
