When it comes to games, space is offering everyone the chance to fly from planet to planet to fighting giant battles with entire armadas backing up your friends as they strike everything from a single man craft to giant capital ships and interstellar fortresses more akin to small planets. Elite Dangerous is one of those games and now it looks like it’s going to bring the fight to you with the ability to pilot multiple ships and fight off aliens thanks to the patch they showed off at Gamescom this week.
The next patch will offer ups everything from new ships to a whole new kind of threat with a tease of the alien race being shown in what appears to be a giant floating fortress that seemed to dwarf the wrecks its hovered above. No doubt this will be expanded upon in the live stream on Sunday, with players awaiting every single detail.
The next feature to hit the spotlight is the creation of a multi-ship system. The new drone system will let you launch ships from your main craft, with the ability to directly control them offering the AI a chance to pilot your ship as your drones fly around and protect your larger vessel. This is a welcome feature for anyone who’s choosing one of the new non-combat vessels such as the new luxury liners.
With even more features coming to the game, will you be picking up your joystick and flying back into Elite Dangerous or are you going to wait till the galaxy is under threat before you step up and pilot your ship back into the fray?
