SpaceX’s New Spacesuit Is Rather Stylish

When compared to conventional space suits, at least. Elon Musk has recently posted a picture on his Instagram page that shows off great-looking space suit. The suit will be used for SpaceX’s future crewed missions. As Elon himself noted, it looks like the suit is not a mockup but a fully functional piece. A quick glance reveals that it is quite fashionable and form-hugging, traits that we definitely did not expect to see. What’s even more impressive is that it can cope with double the pressure of the vacuum of space. There are also a few similarities with Boeing’s own spacesuit, but it’s worth noting that Boeing created it with the help of the David Clark Company.

This decision was made in order to lower costs and control the supply chain with greater efficiency. We already established that the space suit is fully functional, but we would definitely love to see a full-body reveal at some point. Musk did promise that more details will be unveiled in the following days, and we’re hoping that he’ll make good on his word.
