Elon Musk Receives Approval to Build Hyperloop from New York to Washington DC

Elon Musk sure is in the news a lot lately. Some of it may not be completely favorable in the eyes of the public such as his romantic life or his alarmist stance against AI. However, more often than not, it is good news that serves the greater public. A confirmation from Musk via Twitter that one of his projects involving Hyperloop has approval to begin building. The approval itself comes from the US government, although Musk admits it is a verbal agreement so far. It is likely only a matter of paperwork and technicality at this point, but this is good news for his Boring company.

Hyperloop from NY to Washington DC in 29-minutes

The project appears to be a subway type transport rather than the underground car mover concept from the Boring company. City center to city center by car, New York to Washington DC is a 3-hour, 56-minute car ride. With the Hyperloop, Musk projects cutting down that total transport time by only 29 minutes. The project will also involve dozens of entry stations per city with additional connecting routes through Baltimore and Philadelphia in between.

Elon Musk Asking Fans for Help

In addition to his Twitter confirmation, Musk is seeking help from fans if they approve of the project. There are still some bureaucratic hurdles to overcome so he wants those interested to contact their local and federal representatives to inform them of interest. The higher the demand from the public, the faster the approval will be. Even those who are not in the New York to Washington DC service area should contact their local representatives as well.

For some regions in the US such as the Western region, a high-speed transit option would minimize traffic and congestion. California for example, currently has one of the worst managed roadways in the world. It would also boost the economy since it will allow for people outside of the region to come in and out of States for work much easily.
