Elon Musk Reveals New SpaceX Spacesuit Design in Full View

Elon Musk first showed the SpaceX spacesuit design last month, showing a sleeker, less bulkier suit than what NASA uses. According to the SpaceX CEO, despite the slimmer appearance, it is highly functional. In fact, it is double vacuum pressure tested. Admittedly, balancing aesthetics and performance was a challenge, says Musk. The latest photo he posted on Instagram finally shows the suit in full view from head-to-toe. What makes it even more interesting is the fact that the Crew Dragon spacecraft is in the background.
SpaceX Designs
The design is indeed very nice, with a touch of Mass Effect (minus the armor) in it, and slightly more Daft Punk-ier. It actually looks very formal with its mostly white with grey trim look. In fact, it matches with the Crew Dragon colors perfectly. It is even sleeker than the suit Matt Damon wore in The Martian. The latest photo shows the astronaut wearing high black boots and shows padded gloves with padded sides, knees and shoulders. Aside from the sharp look, this new design lets astronauts be more mobile than before.
The Crew Dragon itself will allow SpaceX to begin running commercial space flights to the International Space Station. It has a very high-tech console inside which provides real-time information on the spacecraft’s capabilities. Much of the functions are automated, although it can be controlled and be monitored by both onboard and remotely via SpaceX mission control.
