Earlier this year, you may recall having heard of stories in which the car company finally was able to start meeting its production targets. For quite some time now, the car company has struggled with the basic process of getting cars off the production line and into the possession of the many people who have placed quite significant deposits.
The news was quite shortly followed by something even more critical. For the first time ever in its history, Tesla made a quarterly profit.
In a report via SkyNews though, Elon Musk has revealed that while it did take a lot of hard work, it was entirely necessary. Why? Well, he suggests that without this extraordinary effort, the car company would have probably gone bankrupt.
While he doesn’t go into specifics, he does reveal that at a point, the companies lifespan was within single digit weeks from going under. In the report, he said: “Essentially, the company was bleeding money like crazy, and if we didn’t solve these problems in a very short period of time, we would die. And it was extremely difficult to solve them.”
This is certainly quite shocking as it’s the first real admission by Elon Musk that Tesla was in real trouble. In fairness, many of us who monitored the company suspected it, but until now we had no real confirmation. With him reportedly living at the Tesla factory for several weeks and barely sleeping, it may, in addition, help explain some of his more erratic decisions.
In regards to both the man and the company though, we at eTeknix wish them nothing but the best moving forward.
