Many people were impressed to see the successful landing of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. However, it’s important to know just how many trials it took before SpaceX could get it right. Elon Musk seems to be on the same page, which is why he just unveiled a video showing off the “sordid history” of the project over the years. The video is available on Instagram, and it starts off with footage from September 2013. The Instagram post describing “how not to land” a SpaceX rocket was accompanied by some of Elon Musk’s own words:
“The sordid history of how the @SpaceX Falcon 9, the first fully reusable, orbit-class booster rocket, eventually managed to land in one piece and stay that way. Maybe Falcon realized it still loved us or finally read the instructions…”
Even though the video itself includes enough explosions to keep you entertained, the soundtrack makes it even better. We’re talking about John Philip Sousa’s military march “The Liberty Bell,” which is a very fitting choice if you ask us. The failed landings were caused by different issues. These include engine sensor failures, running out of hydraulic fluid, or running out of liquid oxygen.
We attached the video below so you can have a look at it yourself.
