A Closer Look
The power supply has quite a unique colour scheme that is relevant to what we saw on the box. It features a grey grain-like surface which features gold lettering throughout. The overall look of the unit can only be described as having a slight professional feel about it which leads us to believe that this power supply is part of the upper crust.

The top of the unit includes the standard label which gives us details on the AC input levels, DC output levels and also gives a clear understanding that this unit has a 80PLUS Gold efficiency rating.

Other aspects of the label include the series name (MODU87+) , that it has Active PFC and that this particular unit is rated at 800W.

The unit’s dimensions are nothing out of the ordinary, and therefore is considered a medium sized power supply when compared to the likes of the beefy Thermaltake ToughPower units and Akasa’s ES series. As this is an 800Watt unit, the size seems to reflect that it fits into the mid-sized segment and should fit into most cases with ease.

The rear of the power supply includes a honeycomb design which is always favoured for its fantastic heat dissipation and exhaust capabilities. There are four mounting screw points, a toggle switch for turning the unit on and off, Enermax sticker and also a space for installing the CordGuard, just below the power connector.

The power supply includes a whopping 140mm gold fan which features twister bearing technology to give effective noise reduction, smooth motion and longer lifetime. This is all achieved from the patented technology and components used to make up the fan which runs at an extremely low 330RPM at low loads giving unparalleled performance when you need it most.

A modular design is the main aspect of this power supply, but most cables are hard-wired for convenience. This includes the 24-pin ATX power connector, various 4+4 and 8 pin power connectors for your motherboard as well as a healthy amount of PCI-Express power connectors.
