Enermax MODU87+ 800W Modular Power Supply Unit Review

Final Thoughts
It definitely seems that this unit is aimed at the more well-to-do market, the crème de la crème if you will. This is obvious from the very beginning, from the look of the box, to the design of the product. This is all confirmed with the results from the MODU87+ power supply showcase some very stable offerings.

When you power the unit on, you will be pleasantly surprised with how quiet it operates, even at full load (simulated) and delivers a clean pulse of power throughout our testing period.

There is a downside with regards to the price, as you’re looking at around £180 + delivery to obtain this beauty in all of its golden glory, which is a decision you have to make if you want a unit delivering some of the cleanest, quietest results you’ll see on a power supply. Also bearing in mind, that you’ll have a super-efficient unit, as this PSU has been given an astounding 80 PLUS gold certification rating.

Overall, we believe if you have the money to outlay on this unit, you may as well spend another £10/£15 and plump for its bigger brother; the 900W MODU87+ PSU which will give you a slight future proofing ability when it comes to upgrading as we’ve seen many users with multiple GPU systems of which the 800W will power sufficiently, there’s no doubt about that, but why wouldn’t you spend the extra for another 100W?

Pros:

  • Good efficiency rating
  • Solid build design
  • Stylish
  • Suitable for the most power hungry systems
  • Runs quietly

Cons:

  • Expensive
