Enermax NAXN 850W Modular Power Supply Review

It is clear from the design, performance and price that this is an enthusiast unit encapsulated in a gamer’s package. Although the performance is excellent and surpasses many enthusiast units from other brands, Enermax has chosen to market it primarily to gamers, reserving their in-house units such as the Modu87+ for their enthusiast line. I like this move as it provides users with top quality performance from arguably the best PSU brand around for a more affordable price than their professional units. The NAXN proved itself highly capable in all aspects of testing- and most importantly ripple testing.
Sirfa has really managed to keep up the prestige reputation that Enermax has earned with this unit- with the performance matching, and in some cases, surpassing that of Enermax’s own units which is great to see. We knew that Enermax would only choose the best OEMs around for their products and I look forward to seeing further units from this reasonably new OEM.
Feature wise, the NAXN doesn’t seem to match up with units of the same price bracket, which is a worry for a unit of this price. Many units in that price range offer 80+ Silver certification in addition to many other unique features. However, it is clear that the money has been spent on increasing the performance of the unit rather than adding mundane features. Enermax do employ their HeatGuard technology in addition to the best factory braid on a PSU I have seen so the unit is certainly not lacking when it comes to features, but simply includes less than it’s competitors.
All-in-all, if you are an enthusiast looking for a high performance unit for a smaller price than Enermax’s premium PSUs such as the MaxRevo then this really is a top choice. However, if you are a gamer who is looking for enthusiast-level performance for their rig then the NAXN would also be an excellent choice, if you are willing to pay for the performance!
