Enermax SpineRex Full Tower Case Review

It took us about an hour to build our test system in the SpineRex.  An average build would take around 45 minutes so it is a little more difficult than most cases.  First of all we installed our ASRock Fatal1ty Professional motherboard into the case which was reasonably simple as most of the motherboard stand-offs were pre-installed.

Then we installed the power supply into the system by screwing four screws through the back panel of the case.  This isn’t quite as simple as some cases like the Corsair Graphite 600T, though, which feature tool-less brackets for PSU installation.

Then we installed the hard drive into the system.  This required us to remove two of the hard drive rails from the caddy and then clip them to the hard dirve and slot them back in.  While this is a relatively simple process, it is more fiddly than other tool-less hard drive caddies like those used by Corsair.  There are also tool-less brackets for the optical drive bays.

There is plenty of room for long graphic cards in this case.  We installed our AMD Radeon HD 6950 graphics card using the supplied thumbscrews.  The room for tall CPU coolers is limited by the side panel fan which restricts the size to a maximum of 146.9mm.

One of the most disappointing aspects of the case for us is the lack of support for cable routing.  While there are a few cable routing holes cut into the motherboard tray, there is an extremely small amount of room between the motherboard tray and the right side panel so it is difficult to fit thick tables through.
