Robotics have come a long way from the days in which we imagined a machine helping someone walk. Now not only are machines helping people walk, they are giving limbs back to those who have lost their own, helping create houses and combining with 3D printers to replace and build mechanical systems in the international space station. So why not enjoy your own robot? CellRobot is looking to help you do just that, letting you enjoy your very own robot built from tiny blocks to become something great.
CellRobot is currently in a Kickstarter, which at the time of writing was sitting at $32,805 of its goal for $50,000. CellRobot is designed to act just like cells, with each individual unit connecting to another to create something bigger and better. With the “Heart” sphere powering and controlling the robot thanks to the Bluetooth connected mobile app, the interconnecting “Cell” spheres connect together with everything from a camera to wheels and even a table mounting module in case you wanted to create a robotic butler (warning: no hands are provided so things may get messy).
Would you robot drive around the house showing you all those little corners you never pay attention to or will you use it to create a walking mechanical beast that will transverse your floor and stairs without difficulty? At $155 for a kit, have you ever tried to build a robot at home? Tell us about your favourite home-built gadgets in the comments below.
