The news of the next Epic Mickey title was a big deal. The first Epic Mickey title was a Wii only exclusive, and it never quite achieved the success that Junction Point would have liked. What if the first Epic Mickey had been multiplatform rather than a Wii exclusive?
Well, if Junction Point had their way they desperately would like to do an HD port of it to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Surprisingly, Warren Spector has gone on record supporting the idea of doing an HD port of the first title since the title is going multiplatform with the sequel.
While it has been confirmed that the Wii will still be the lead platform for Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, we have to wonder how committed Disney is to the Epic Mickey series given the rather poor sales of the first title. The sequel is going to have to do much larger numbers to keep Disney interested.
While Junction Point may want to do an HD port of the first title to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, we have to think that unless the sales of the sequel are not big on these platforms, it is likely something that is never going to happen. Sources say that there is actually a better chance that we will see a 3DS spin off from the Epic Mickey series.
