Following its release on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC last week, the first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode is now available on Android and iOS platforms. Minecraft: Story Mode, developed by serial adventure game makers Telltale Games and published by Mojang, follows Jesse, the game’s customisable, gender-flexible character, as he/she ventures across the Overworld, accompanied by a party of friends, to thwart an evil monster.
Episode One, “The Order of the Stone”, operates much the same as Telltale’s previous games – which include the critically-lauded The Walking Dead, Borderlands spin-off Tales From the Borderlands, Game of Thrones, based on the popular HBO TV show, and Back to the Future: The Game, set for a re-release to celebrate the film’s 30th anniversary – challenging the player to light adventure game-style puzzles, quick-time events, and dialogue choices, allowing the player to shape the story akin to a “choose-your-own-adventure” book.
Minecraft: Story Mode Episode One, “The Order of the Stone” is available for Android and iOS, priced £3.92/£3.99, respectively. The game is also available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC, either as separate episodes or a season pass, priced £24.99 on Xbox One and Playstation 4, £19.99 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and £18.99 on Steam for PC and Mac.
