Next we have the Role Playing Games.

There’s only really one huge Role Playing Game released towards the end of this year, and anyone who’s a gamer will have heard about it. There’s some others though, that are definitely worth looking at and are in no way worse than the bigger ones. Games such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution and The Witcher 2 may be over shadowed by the massive size of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, but chances are the person you’re getting a game for may already have Skyrim, so these are a great alternative.

The selected games for this years Christmas Game Buying Guide are:

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

If you haven’t heard of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, you can’t be a very enthusiastic gamer. As the biggest game of 2011, overshadowing Battlefield and Modern Warfare, The Old Republic and pretty much every other game released this year, it’s most definitely recommended as a Christmas gift if you don’t already have it.

Hours upon days are to be spent wandering the lands of Skyrim, slaying dragons, giants and thieves. If you’re into immersing yourself for hours and hours in a game, planning your eating and sleeping habits around the game, then this is for you. You can’t pick it up and play while you wait for your tea to be ready, you need to dedicated a days worth of hard work killing dragons. Skyrim can be bought for the sum of around £30 at any good retailer.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a fantastic story driven game, compelling you to carry on playing to work out the next piece of the puzzle. Set in the future, where combining humans with robotic argumentation is the norm, while also being a highly controversial topic, you play as Adam Jensen, a heavily augmented security specialist, trying to track down the villains that attacked Sarif Industries, a global provider of augmentations.

The game is great fun, it can be played as both a stealthy cover based Splinter Cell like shooter, or a full on guns blazing rambo style game as you battle to find the truth. If you like compelling a compelling story, beautiful set pieces and a fantastic soundtrack, coupled with a great gaming experience, then there isn’t really any reason for you not to buy this right now. Deus Ex can be found for around £20 at retailers, depending on platform.
