Here we are on the morning of day 1 at the InWin Mod in Taiwan event, and the countdown clock has started. Each of the teams has 8 hours working time today, and the same again for the next two days, giving them just 24 hours to take their InWin 509 chassis from stock to their final modded build. The teams will then have their finished builds moved to the InWin booth at Computex where they will be judged for the winner.
Here we have our UK team “Run With Scissors” being represented by famous modders BNEGATIVE and Davido_Labido, otherwise known at Dave Alcock and Daniel Harper. As you can see, they’re as professional as ever, but we wouldn’t have them any other way!
BSMods wasted no time in stripping down their chassis and getting on with the cutting tools. It’s worth mentioning that each team already had a buildlog planned before their arrival, so they’re not going in blind. With three concepts available, space, medieval and military, we’re eager to see which format each team has chosen. Each build must also have a theme that captures the 30th anniversary of InWin, and how they’ll do that remains to be seen.
The 509 certainly looks good at stock, but each team quickly ripped up the stock system and we doubt any will look the same by the time the teams are done.
Run With Scissors giving a quick interview, detailing how he’s modding the PSU cables for this build.
Within minutes of the competition, the sparks were flying as large chunks of the chassis were being cut away and rebuilt; we should see some interesting results quite quickly today.
Some of the teams have split in two as one works on the core components, the other on the chassis. Here we see the modding of the DDR4 heat spreaders has begun.
Stock coolers ripped off the GPU, and thermal pads being put in place, so expect some lovely water cooling hardware to take its place very soon.
Everything is a little manic here right now, but we’ll be back to check on the teams shortly and see how the builds are coming along.
