Evercool Booster Wrist Pad Review

Comfort

The Booster does give support which in several ways makes it comfortable to use. However, the supporting pad in the middle is not that well cushioned and after a long period of use I didn’t think it felt any better than wresting my wrist on a plank of wood (without the splinters at least).

Features

The Booster will reduce or at least limit the chance of getting wrist strain during long gaming sessions although this claim has yet to be tested by a medical body. The fans do provide quite a bit of air that is thrown right over the top of your hand. In fact, at this time of year my hand nearly ended up too cold, so it certainly worked. However, if you reverse the pad, you will not notice the cooling effect of these tiny fans unless you hold it within an inch of your face. The Booster does slide along a laminated wooden desk quite nicely, however it does certainly restrict your movement and will slow your response times down if you have to move a large distance.

Functionality

This device does what it says on the tin – it blows air at your hand! It is relatively well built and does look nice. I can see some practical use for it, it will certainly reduce the amount of perspiration on your hand. It might even leave your hand feeling cold and numb afterwards. However this probably
only appeals to serious gamers, although the price point is very very low. On a more concerning note, the DC cable and the socket do not make the best and most secure of connections, in fact wobbling it very slightly will result in the fan turning off – even giving it a twist of 90 degrees in either direction turned it off quite regularly.

Performance

It is hard to measure the actual performance of this device, you will not notice a temperature difference if you place a thermometer in front of the Booster. The reason it cools your skin is it increases the rate of evaporation of any accumulated perspiration, which effectively draws heat from the skin leaving your skin feeling colder. At normal room temperature(~21°C degrees Centigrade), you will find this to be a nice cooling breeze, which after time will leave your hand feeling icy. So unless you are in a serious adrenaline pumping game its performance is almost too good!
