Evercool Silent Shark (HPO 12025) CPU Cooler Review

From the side the aesthetics are dominated by the uniquely shaped Evercool Silent Shark fan. You can see the plastic mounting system allows you to mount any standard 120mm fan that you might choose so if you don’t like the provided fans then you can do that.

The Evercool Silent Shark uses to dense aluminium heatsink towers. Each is fed by six 6mm heat pipes so there appears to be ample room for efficient heat dissipation. Although given the density of the heatsink I worry the middle fan could struggle to move enough air.

The top is covered entirely by a rather heavy plastic shielding. This has to be removed during installation and both the fans are attached to this shielding mechanism. You can swap the fans out with your own as it uses standard 120mm fan mounts.

I still find it strange that the heatsink towers are slanted. Personally I do not see what purpose it serves and the asymmetry would annoy a lot of people.

Evercool have also included a hinge feature which you can see more clearly above (the silver tube and black plastic form the fan hinge) that allows you tilt the fan outwards by up to 30 degrees. Again I am not sure what benefit this is supposed to bring since you have to remove this outer casing during the installation process so it doesn’t benefit you during the installation process. Once the cooler is properly installed I don’t see how having airflow angled down towards the motherboard could be useful in anyway. If anything the strange direction of the airflow could impede the overall airflow in the case and reduce cooling performance.

The base is machined copper and looks like really nice quality. The six 6mm heat pipes are all looking very sturdy and you can see part of the mounting mechanism is integrated onto the base – this will save you a bit of time and hassle.

The outer fan includes a 3 pin connector meaning it has a fixed non-adjustable speed while the inner fan supports 4 pin PWM. I was hoping Evercool would equip all fans with PWM so this is a minor let down.
