The included mounting kits consists of quite a lot of parts. The basic principle is you screw the correct mounting brackets to the Venti heatsink. You secure the backplate to the motherboard with the correct fixtures and fittings. Then you secure the heatsink to the secured backplate using the provided spring loaded screws. You must make sure you use the insulating rings when installing the motherboard to prevent electrical short circuiting. Evercool provide thermal paste, which is nice, and the included manual has very clear and easy to follow diagrams for an easy installation so please refer to this as first preference.
From the top you can see just how “skinny” this heatsink is – at least in relation to the heatsinks we normally test. Evercool have bundle four fan clips meaning you can add a second 120mm fan if you so wish, a nice little touch from Evercool there.
The heatsink doesn’t really endanger any of the motherboard components so I don’t anticipate problems with any modern motherboards.
The clearance between the fan and the first RAM slot is enough to mean you can populate every slot with RAM as tall as you like.
