EVGA has a new GeForce GTX 1070 Ti video card offering sporting a much beefier air cooler. It is called the GTX 1070 Ti FTW Ultra Silent video card and it takes up 2.5 slots due to the thicker heatsink. From the top view, it looks like the regular EVGA ACX 3.0 cooler, but when you see it from the side or the back, the height difference is massive. Just like almost all NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics cards, the FTW Ultra Silent runs at 1607 MHz base with 1683MHz boost right out of the box. This is easily overclockable however, especially with EVGA’s Precision XOC software.
Just like the rest of EVGA’s FTW offerings, the 1070 Ti FTW Ultra Silent has dual BIOS chips. This gives users some redundancy in case one becomes corrupt. It is also useful for storing custom BIOS options. Although it does not sport EVGA’s top of the line iCX cooling type, it still boasts the ACX 3.0 design similar with the EVGA GTX 1070 Ti Superclock video card. However, their similarities end there.
FTW cards tend to be mighty overclockers for enthusiasts so the FTW Ultra Silent features a 10+2 phase VRM. In comparison, the reference design uses 5+1. To keep this VRM well fed, EVGA uses a pair of 8-pin power connectors instead of just one. The power draw maxes at 235W rather than the 217W with other GTX 1070 Ti graphics cards.
It also features all-white LED lighting and a backplate to complete the premium look. In terms of display connectors, it has one HDMI 2.0b, three DisplayPort 1.4 and one Dual-link DVI port available.
The EVGA GTX 1070 Ti FTW Ultra Silent video card is now available directly from EVGA’s website for $499.99 USD. Interestingly, that is the same price as their GTX 1070 Ti FTW2 which has RGB LED lighting and iCX 9-sensor cooling.
