EVGA GTX 1660 XC Ultra 6GB Graphics Card Review

How Much Does It Cost?

The EVGA GTX 1660 XC Ultra is available from today with an MSRP of $249.99 ($239.99 after rebate) in the US. While in the UK, it’ll be priced at £229.99 Inc VAT. That makes it about the mid-range price for a GTX 1660 right now, as the cheapest range from £199.99 and go up to about £249.99.

Overview

EVGA has delivered a pretty fantastic graphics card here. If anything, I think it’s a little bit better than it needs to be, odd as that may sound. It’s one of the coolest (in temperatures) cards on the market today. I can’t help but feel I’m paying a premium for extra materials on the cooler that just aren’t required. That being said, a cool running GPU isn’t really a bad thing either, so take that with a pinch of salt.

Gaming

When it comes to gaming at 1080p and 1440p, the GTX 1660 chipset is properly fantastic. Sure, you may be snarking that it doesn’t beat your GTX 1080 Ti, or your new RTX card. If you’re saying that, what the hell are you reading this review for? For those on GPUs that are a couple of generations old, such as the 660 Ti, or Radeon 280X, this is a huge upgrade. Not only that, but they’re affordable solutions for those building their first gaming PC too. 80+ FPS at 1080p and 60 FPS at 1440p using High settings for little of £200? That’s nothing to turn your nose up at for sure!

EVGA Ecosystem

EVGA know how to build a competitive graphics card. However, they also have one of the most competitive warranties out there, and some of the best build quality. You’ll pay a small premium, but the benefits can outweigh the cost in the long run. I suspect the XC Ultra may quickly become one of the most popular GTX 1660 cards of this launch!
