EVGA has today expanded its PSU lineup with the introduction of its new SuperNOVA 1000W and 850W Gold ATX 3.0 Power Supply.
EVGA SuperNOVA 1000W & 850W
EVGA’s new SuperNOVA series are ATX 3.0-compliant power supplies capable of handling the latest high-powered systems. These PSUs are equipped with native 12VHPWR and are capable of up to 235% total power excursion and 300% total GPU Power Excursion making them great for handling momentary spikes in power. These power supplies achieve this with an 80 Plus Gold Efficiency rating as well as a strong suite of protections to further ensure that they last. The SuperNOVA also makes use of an advanced thermal protection circuit for the 12VHPWR connector to safeguard both the PSU and Graphics card from overcurrent risks. For the rest of the components, the LLC & PFC MOSFET incorporates an optimized transistor package bringing significant improvements to its functionality. This design can offer double the heat transfer areas and four times the power dissipation ratings for improved temperatures.
Weak Warranty
If you’ve been paying attention to EVGA in the news lately, you’ll know that their future is quite uncertain and is strongly looking towards the end. Something that backs up this claim is the weak warranty that is included with these PSUs which is a pitiful 3 years. The majority of PSUs feature at least 5 years so this warranty is quite concerning and does present EVGA as having little confidence in 3 years time.
