EVGA plans dual LGA 2011 motherboard

EVGA is well known for its extreme performance motherboard the socket 1366 SR2 motherboard which supported a dual CPU set up with 4 way SLI. They are updating this extreme performance line of products by adding a new board to the dual socket range. Showing it off at Computex 2011 EVGA were proud to announce that they would definitely have a single socket LGA 2011 X79 motherboard ready before the launch of the new processors and LGA 2011 platform.

They also added that a month after the launch of the single socket motherboard they would have a dual socket motherboard ready which could potentially support two 12/8/6 core Sandy Bridge – E processors along with a 4 way SLI set up with 8 memory channels. Expect to see some records broken when this board launches!

got it in a nutshell! people will never really use this unless they want bragging rights, servers use dual socket motherboards that are designed for server functionality (i.e dont have 4 way sli) so this is clearly just for a guy with way way way too much money

precisely :)!like u said, its no point using this as a server board. its just a very rich enthusiast, OTT, me>u board :p!

  4. Well if EVGA do it so you can run the cheapest CPU(and not the £1000+ Xeon you had to buy for the SR-2) on it then i can see many people buying it
