EVGA showed their SC17 1070 G-SYNC Gaming laptop at CES 2017 earlier this year, and now it is finally available. This gaming laptop sports a 4K-ready IPS panel that is NVIDIA G-SYNC technology capable for buttery smooth framerate despite the compact size. The EVGA SC17 uses a completely in-house designed power supply that delivers 240W to power the unlocked Intel Core i7-6820HK CPU and GeForce GTX 1070 video card inside. The processor can be overclocked to 3800MHz and beyond (thermal limits notwithstanding) and the GPU can be as well if the user really wants to since it has an easy to use full GUI BIOS so users can tweak voltages, advanced component settings and more. It even has a clear CMOS button, so it truly is ready to be overclocked. Right out of the box, however, it is already plenty powerful for a gaming laptop.
What good is a gaming laptop if it does not have good sound so it has a Realtek ALC255 HD audio inside with a 3.5mm headphone jack so users can also game in peace. An Intel i219V Gigabit ethernet controller is also available to connect the laptop to on a network. It also has Wireless network options, of course, powered by an Intel Snowfield Peak AC-8260 solution with Bluetooth 4.2. Storage options include a 256GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD plus a 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6G drive so there is enough space for many games. It also has a USB 3.1 Type-C port. In case gamers want to play on a bigger screen, two mini-DisplayPorts are available as well as one HDMI port. All of that lovely hardware is encased in a sleek, full unibody design that is slim; measuring at no more than 1.07 inches at its thickest point.
The best part is that the new EVGA SC17 1070 G-SYNC Gaming laptop is available for a limited time with an instant rebate of $250, so the price is dropped down to $2549. It also comes with an EVGA backpack for free, as well as an EVGA Torq X10 mouse for free. Since it is a gaming laptop, EVGA is also throwing in some more free stuff in the form of games when purchased including Rad Rodgers World One and either For Honor or Ghost Recon Wildlands.
