Pricing
The EVGA SuperNOVA G3 750W 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply is an impressive unit. Of course, quality doesn’t come cheap, and at £119.99 you will have to step up to purchase one. Is it good value for money though? Absolutely, it’s one of the greatest PSUs we’ve ever tested, and that’s not something I would say lightly. Let’s not forget that class-leading 10-year warranty too, that’s certainly peace of mind from EVGA.
Conclusion
There’s a lot to love about this power supply. Actually, that’s selling it a bit short, as there’s absolutely nothing to dislike about it either. Is this the perfect power supply? It very well might be. 750W is more than enough power for any modern system with a powerful processor and even a couple of high-end graphics cards. It’ll still have enough headroom for overclocking, and additional hardware too.
OPP to the MAX
For a 750W unit, I would have expected the OPP to kick in around 900W. The fact that this unit pulled a mind bending 1151W power is staggering and left my jaw on the floor. If you have a big spike in your power draw, the G3 is going to have your back, so no worries there.
A Diamond in the Rough
There are many great PSUs on the market for around £120, no doubt about that. However, this one seems to be a much better PSU that advertised and that’s very interesting. From my own results, it behaves very closely to an 80 Plus Platinum 1000W unit, not a 80 Plus Gold 750W unit. This makes it incredible value for money for anyone wanting to invest.
Silence is Golden
With a fan that never exceeded 800 RPM it’s unlikely you’ll ever hear much noise from this PSU. It’s a quiet as a mouse even at full load. However, with the ECO mode turned on, the fan will stop completely up to around 60-80% load, giving you total silence. If you need a rig that’s super quiet, you’ll certainly find that here.
Modular All The Things
With fully modular cables, getting a neat and tidy build is going to be very easy. The cables are of a good quality and the all-black connections will let it blend in easily enough. Of course, the premium quality finish of the rest of the PSU is aesthetically pleasing too, and it’s sure to be a compliment to any system build.
