EVGA XC Ultra Nvidia RTX 2080 Graphics Card Review

Gaming Performance

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

This one has me really scratching my head, as the Ultra absolutely slaughtered the Aorus card in this test and again at 1440p. We ran it a few time to be sure and even check the Xtreme again. However, the numbers are right, and the game just seems to jam well with this card; not hearing any complaints from the gamers, that’s for sure. However, at 4K, the gap quickly closed and both cards performed about the same.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Again, it seems that Tomb Raider wasn’t a fluke for EVGA. The Aorus card is put to shame in the first two benchmark runs, and even at 4K there’s only 0.1 FPS difference between the cards. It seems that the EVGA card can maintain its boost clock longer at less demanding loads (lower resolutions) thanks to the thicker cooler, giving it a bit of a gaming edge.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Again, both of these cards are trading places more times than a Fast and the Furious race scene changes gear. Regardless, both cards did great, but EVGA once again just have the edge on Aorus; not bad for a card that’s £100 less.

Middle Earth: Shadow of War

Even in the very demanding Shadow of War, frame rates are through the roof. Performance is fantastic on this card for gaming, and even at 4K, you’re sitting pretty close to 60 FPS in the benchmark. Typically, actual gameplay frame rates are higher anyway. It’s also just 2 FPS behind the Aorus card at 4K.

Battlefield V

Again, even the visually stunning Battlefield V doesn’t take the wind out of this card. From 1080p, right up to 2160p, the framerates are very desirable. Of course, both the EVGA and Aorus card are still trading blows, but the EVGA card still seems to be winning more often than not.
