Evolve Goes Free-To-Play on the PC

evolve

Evolve was definitely one of the most hyped-up games of 2015, but even though it promised to deliver innovative gameplay features and an engaging multiplayer experience, it looks like its success was definitely short-lived as many people have forgotten about it just a year and a half after its original release. In an attempt to breathe new life into the game, Turtle Rock Studios has decided to make it free-to-play on the PC as part of a Beta version starting July 7. The team has promised to deliver regular updates for this new version of Evolve, and to make sure that those who have already purchased the game will be rewarded. That’s why current Evolve owners will receive “Founder” status as well as several other gifts, rewards and special access.

“We’re going to make Evolve free on PC as a Beta starting on July 7. This is going to allow us to hit our new server infrastructure really hard and we need your help testing. Stuff could break, and that’s our hope, because that will give us time to improve things as we go. We’ll parse out major Beta revisions, updates and features over a period of weeks and months — a plan we’re going to continually communicate here. This allows us to test new features and major changes to make our game more accessible and ever closer to the joy we saw when we first showed our baby to the world. Just as importantly, this Beta plan gives us the flexibility and time we need to keep fixing bugs and making Evolve more stable.”

As far as the game’s planned improvements are concerned, they include UI tweaks, loading time enhancements, stability, bug fixes, a new progression system, new tutorials, a reworked hunter class and extra customization options.
