Evolve Sees a Dramatic Increase in Players after Going F2P

Just a few days ago, we told you that Turtle Rock Studios’ Evolve will become free-to-play on the PC, and it looks like this change had a dramatic effect on the game’s player count, as this actually increased by 1700% sometimes. This means that there were up to 40,803 players at peak times, which is officially the highest player count since the game launched in February last year. By comparison, even though evolve was quite fun to play in its early days, it only received about 300 active players each month at peak times lately, which is likely what cause Turtle Rock to think about going for a free-to-play model.

It’s worth noting that many other games saw an increase in popularity shortly after they became free, but that doesn’t mean that these players will stick around. Actually, it’s much more plausible that the numbers will eventually even out and remain steady after a while, but that’s only if the developers will make good on their promise to keep the game updated and fresh. Along with this major change, Evolve also received a free-to-play launch trailer, which you will be able to see below. Have you considered giving this title another chance now that it won’t cost you a penny? By the way, it will also become free on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles in the future.
