Evolve Will No Longer Receive Support from Turtle Rock Studios

Not too long ago, Turtle Rock Studios announced that Evolve, its mildly popular multiplayer shooter would go free-to-play. This caused a massive surge in the game’s overall player count, with reports stating that the player base increased by as much as 7307% at one point. In order to successfully launch this free-to-play version, the development team worked hard in order to iron out any bugs while making the gameplay more enjoyable for the masses. Still, it looks like Turtle Rock Studios is actually done with Evolve, as the team recently announced that it will officially end support for this title. One of the studio’s co-founders wrote the following in a forum statement:
“We had huge aspirations for Evolve, and while we got to spend five and a half awesome years on planet Shear with a ragtag group of Planet Tamers and fearsome Monsters, it still doesn’t feel like enough – we were hungry for more but unfortunately today is the last day that Turtle Rock Studios can work on Evolve.”
However, the studio itself is not closing down, and the team still has “a lot of stuff in the works,” which means that we might be looking at a brand new title from Turtle Rock in the near future. As far as Evolve fans are concerned, they will still be able to play this game for the foreseeable future, as the Stage 2 servers will remain online running v2.16.
