With only a month to go till the official launch of Pascal, Nvidia is getting busy behind the scenes getting ready. Next week, Nvidia is finally holding their private Pascal press event where they will showcase the GTX 1080, 1070 and any other Pascal cards they will launch. For the rest of the public, they will have to wait till Computex to see the cards. Fortunately, retail availability will come quick with cards in stock by June.
In addition to the quick retail availability, Nvidia will also be sending sample cards for various press outlets to test real soon. With retail availability in June, stores may already be receiving shipments of the cards as early as next week. If that is the case, we may soon see some leaks coming out for retail packaging and cards in the middle of May. Partner cards are expected to follow the reference models closely as well.
So far, we know that there are the GTX 1080 using GP104-400 and the GTX 1070 using the GP104-200. We also know the former card will use GDDR5X while the later will have to make do with GDDR5. Other than that, details have been a bit thin. We’ll bring you the latest information to come out as it happens so stay tuned!
