With Steve Ballmer announcing his retirement from Microsoft the software giant now has to find a new CEO within the next 12 months. An internal committee at Microsoft has been appointed to select a new successor for the CEO seat.
Talking with USA Today Jack Gold, a technology analyst at Gold Associates, believes that Bill Gates should consider making a return to the company’s CEO position.
“Maybe it’s time for Bill Gates to come back on a temporary basis, they need a proven innovator with a track record of turning around big, sometimes unwieldy companies” Said Jack Gold.
Bill Gates has already announced that he has no intentions to make a return to the position of CEO as he retired from that way back in 2000. Of course if enough influential investors and shareholders at Microsoft yearned for his return then he would probably have no choice.
“As a member of the succession planning committee, I’ll work closely with the other members of the board to identify a great new CEO, We’re fortunate to have Steve in his role until the new CEO assumes these duties.” Stated Bill Gates in a recent press conference.
Analyst Jack Gold believes that Microsoft should also consider looking to Google’s senior staff to find a candidate to take them in the right direction.
