Facebook App Update Delivers iPhone Battery Life Fixes

Recently we brought you news that the Facebook app was one of the main culprits for poor battery life on iPhones. Even when the app was not being used the app remained active in the background whilst continuing to zap your battery.
We shared our concerns on eTeknix regarding Facebook causing bad iPhone battery life and this isn’t the first time that the Facebook iPhone app showed up as a potential battery hog. Back in 2013 users discovered that the Facebook app stayed active in the background, draining the battery faster and it seems a similar bug had crept its way back in. Facebook’s engineering manager Ari Grant, has acknowledged it with a post apologising for the issue:
“We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. We are committed to continuing to improve the battery usage of our app and you should see improvements in the version released today.”
The new update for the iPhone includes two main fixes aimed at delivering better iPhone battery life to users by optimizing the CPU usage and solving a frustrating bug that kept silent audio playing in the background after you closed the Facebook iPhone app.
There is a new Facebook app update for the iPhone every two weeks, so users may see additional and more refined improvements in early November.
