Fallout 4 High Res Textures Requires AMD RX 490?!

Next week, Bethesda is set to release a new high-resolution texture pack for Fallout 4. As you might expect from utilising higher quality textures, there is a greater demand on GPU horsepower. No surprisingly, Bethesda has set the standard at the GTX 1080. More intriguing however is mention of an unlaunched AMD Radeon RX 490 8GB graphics card.
Recommended PC Specs
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i7-5820K or better
GTX 1080 8GB/AMD Radeon RX 490 8GB
8GB+ Ram
For recommended specifications, Bethesda has a pretty massive set of requirements. First up, we have the requirement for 58GB of storage space. On the face of it, that would be massive for just a high-resolution texture pack but that number should be for the entire game in total. We also have the hexacore i7 5830K as I guess quads just aren’t good enough.
The most interesting aspect, of course, is the mention of the RX 490 8GB. Being placed next to the GTX 1080 8GB without mention of the GTX 1070 suggests that the RX 490 is closer to GTX 1080 performance and possibility even better. If Bethesda already knows of the RX 490, this also means that AMD will likely be launching Vega soon and within the first half of 2017. Bethesda has since amended the page to remove reference to secret the graphics card.
