Fallout 4 Mod Dynamically Adjusts Shadows Based on FPS

Tired of performance drops in Fallout 4? A common cause of lower frame rates is high graphics settings, especially with things such as shadows and more so in particularly busy or large open areas of the game world. So what if you could have high shadow settings for great visual quality, but have them automatically turn down when your FPS performance is being effected, before dialing them back up again when things are running smooth? A new Fallout 4 mod does just that!

“Many of you may have noticed that in some locations of Fallout 4 fps gets low even with a good hardware, like in the City, mostly it happens in the areas with lots of objects. Since the game isn’t properly optimized, almost everything that it does with objects which it renders takes more time than it actually should. One of the most time consuming operations in Fallout 4 is shadow rendering and because the game has only predefined shadow draw distance, which applies everywhere in every location just the same, we have a choice either we set it to high value with having a good picture but eventually facing fps drops in locations with lots of object or we lower the value to make fps more stable in general. And this is exactly the point where this plugin comes handy!”

It’s a simple plugin to install and it’s a great workaround compared to just always having your shadow settings set to low. Fallout 4 hasn’t been out long, but it’s great to see the modding community already getting to work so quickly.
