Fallout: New Vegas Gets Object-Based Audio With ATMOS Ambience Overhaul Mod

I’m a big fan of object-based audio formats, running a 5.1.2 surround system on my home theatre setup, and I use formats like Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Creative SXFI daily for my various setups, headphones, games, movies, music, etc. It can really improve the immersion, and with a new update for Fallout New Vegas, I think I’ll have to dig out this classic RPG once again.
Fallout: New Vegas
There are so many mods that improve graphics, but modder ‘TheKetzku’ has released a new mod that heavily upgrades the in-game audio, with what is being called the ATMOS Ambience Overhaul, and it makes the game sound as dynamic and beautiful as it deserves!
The new ATMOS Ambience Overhaul Mod upgrades the background sounds in the game with directional audio technology, and includes over a thousand new custom-made sound effects too, which have been “created with high-quality equipment used in the film industry” to really push the immersion to the next level.

If you’re a fan of audio, you’ll love this addition, but honestly, you don’t have to be technically minded on object-based audio to enjoy its benefits, and Windows PC users can use the Dolby Atmos Headphone or DTS:Headphone X feature to get object-based audio on any set of stereo headphones.
There’s a really brilliant trailer for it too, chuck your headphones on an enjoy the spooky ambience. However, keep in mind, that you’ll not be getting the full effect of the mod from YouTube, it’s more a demonstration of the new ambient sounds rather than the object-based audio technology.
With a bunch of cool RTX Remix mods cropping up for the game too, it’s a great time to go back and play this one! Head on over to ATMOS Ambience Overhaul at Fallout New Vegas – mods and community (nexusmods.com)
