Battlefield 2142 is one of the most iconic shooters, or at least it was for me, being able to play epic multiplayer battles on one of my first high-end gaming PC’s back in the day. Now it looks like the game is back, albeit it in an unofficial capacity, as the fan made project Battlefield 2142 Revive has remade the game.
The “new” game has been released for free, and while it’s still very much Battlefield 2142, albeit in new clothes, you’ll also be able to enjoy epic 64-player battles that made it so popular, and let’s be honest, that’s exactly what we all want to do!
With the official game servers having been offline for two years, it’s great to see fans picking up the task of keeping the gaming community playing this game. Even more impressive is that they’ve managed to keep the online features, a fully functional leaderboard and ranking system on their servers.
EA haven’t pulled the plug on this project yet, and it’ll be interesting to see if they do, given that they washed their hands with the game two years ago. Check out the game by downloading the launcher from the official site here.
