Fan Project Shows Silent Hill Remade in Unreal Engine 5

Will Konami ever get around to making a brand new Silent Hill game? Unfortunately, the answer to that question, despite a lot of demand from fans, still remains more than a little unclear. Admittedly though, it seems entirely mad that despite the studio holding the IPs to some of gaming’s biggest franchises, they continue to only seem interested in making pachinko machines. – Following the release of a fan project video, however, the team at ‘Codeless Studio‘ has released a concept showing what a Silent Hill remake could look like utilising Unreal Engine 5.

Silent Hill in Unreal Engine 5

Now, without wishing to knock their efforts, the project showcased here isn’t as graphically glorious as some of those seen in the past. With this in mind, however, knowing the purpose of this technical demo is very important. – You see, this isn’t yet another attempt to create a full-blown fan remake. In so far as we can ascertain, they have no intention to finish this nor, indeed, ever release it to the public.

Their hope is that with the continued interest shown in a Silent Hill Remake, this may, one day, prompt Konami to actually get around to making their own. And no, that abomination of the HD Collection does not count!

A Smart Move!

The release of fan projects such as this smartly avoids a lot of the complications seen in other similar efforts where groups have attempted to completely remake the game. Given that they have no apparent intention to ever release their work, this avoids the almost guaranteed C&D letter from Konami arriving on their doorstep. – Of course, they may decide to one day, as noted above, however, the real hope of the team at ‘Codeless Studio‘ is that this will apply more pressure to Konami to, finally, give their fans what they want!

So, will a Silent Hill Remake ever happen? The answer still remains probably not. Amazing fan projects like this, however, surely can not hurt those chances though!
