Fan Painstakingly Recreates GoldenEye 007 in Far Cry 5

As more and more time passes, it feels increasingly unlike that we’ll ever see the N64 classic ‘Goldeneye 007’ remade for modern systems. Well… Not officially at least. Following a video released by YouTuber and Modder ‘Krollywood‘, however, if you have Far Cry 5 on the PS4, then you’re now able to, pretty much, play through the entirety of Goldeneye that is not only remarkably faithful to the original but also gives those graphics (and particularly controls) a much-needed overhaul!

Goldeneye 007 Recreated in Far Cry 5

Requiring over 1,400 hours of work, ‘Krollywood’ has said that his creation includes practically every level included in the original game (excluding the two unlockable maps which are apparently in the works) with some combined to make the playable experience a little more extended and streamlined. You can, after all, beat some of the original Goldeneye maps in less than a couple of minutes.

Utilising the surprisingly decent map editor within Far Cry 5, he also noted that creating ‘Goldeneye’ within the game was made remarkably more straight forward than he initially thought thanks to it including a decent chunk of assets and easily convertible mechanics. – You can check out the image below for some direct comparisons between the original N64 release and this new ‘Far Cry 5’ fan adaptation.

What Do We Think?

While this is clearly an amazing fan project (created by seemingly just one person as well), you might be wondering if you can now try this out for yourself? Well, the short answer is apparently yes. As long as you own Far Cry 5 on the PS4, if you go into the games ‘arcade mode’ and look up the username “Perfect-Dark1982” you should be able to try these out (and with a far less wonky control experience too!)
