Sometimes a couple of terabytes just isn’t enough…in a world of increasing data production and consumption the need for more storage continues to grow. So on that subject, how does 12TB of storage sound….pretty good huh? That’s what Western Digital are offering with their latest consumer product the My Book Duo External Hard Drive. It comes with a duo (pair) of Western Digital’s newest 6TB WD Red drives in a RAID 0 configuration. Not only can you get up to 12TB of storage but you also get up to 290MB/s with a RAID 0 configuration and support for RAID 1 or JBOD if you so prefer. A single USB 3.0 connection means the WD My Book Duo is plug-and-play and offers up to 5Gbps throughput. Furthermore WD even chuck in a couple of USB 3.0 downstream ports so you can plug in additional USB drives.
The price for such a product? Well pricing is currently TBA but considering the 8TB variant currently costs $450, expect a price point upwards of $600.
