With Computex just around the corner, the world’s most famous hardware manufacturers are already unveiling some of their most impressive creations. ASRock, the Taiwan-based manufacturer of industrial PCs and motherboards, will be presenting its socket LGA1151 motherboards, but that’s not the only thing that it has up its sleeve. The ASRock fanless BeeBox compact desktop will probably draw a few crowds as well, especially since compact PCs have been enjoying a rise in popularity over the last few years.
The BeeBox is based on a 14 nm Intel “Braswell” Celeron N3000 series SoC and features 2 GB or 4 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory. The memory can be expanded by the user to 8 GB thanks to a pair of SO-DIMM slots. As far as storage goes, the PC will be equipped with 32 GB to 128 GB mSATA SSDs, which should definitely be enough for an operating system and a collection of useful apps. Connectivity-wise, there’s gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 ac WLAN and four USB 3.0 ports out of which one is a type-C port. The DisplayPort and HDMI port are also welcomed additions to a tiny box that measures just 110 mm x 46 mm x 118.5 mm. As no fans were implemented in its design, this thing will be completely quiet, but we’ll just have to wait and see if its price tag will be justified by its performance and convenience.
What do you think about the ASRock BeeBox so far?
